Russia has completed the transfer of Su-30SME multirole fighters to Myanmar. The air force of the Asian nation has received all six aircraft stipulated in the contract.
The parties concluded an agreement for the supply of Su-30SME aircraft in 2018. The first pair of aircraft entered service with the Myanmar Air Force in the summer of 2022, but were officially put into operation on December 15.
The second pair of fighters was delivered in the summer of 2023, but were also officially handed over to the military on December 15. Simultaneously with the first pair of aircraft, mechanics also arrived in Myanmar to train locals in the operation of Russian aircraft.
On December 15, 2024, the Myanmar Air Force held its annual ceremony commemorating the founding day of the Air Force, during which it officially put into operation the third pair of Su-30SME multirole fighters.
The Su-30SME fighters supplied to the Myanmar Air Force will be based at the airbase in Naypyidaw, from where they will be able to cover the entire territory of the country.
