The multi-purpose frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" of Project 22350 has completed its long voyage and returned to the main base of the Northern Fleet in Severomorsk.
The commander of the Northern Fleet, Vice Admiral Konstantin Kabantsov, noted that the long voyage was carried out in a tense military-political situation. He emphasized that for the first time a Northern Fleet ship with hypersonic weapons on board performed tasks in the Western Atlantic. During the long voyage, the sailors spent 226 days, crossed seven seas, two oceans, five straits, and covered more than 30 thousand nautical miles.
The culmination of the voyage was participation, together with the frigate "Admiral Golovko", in an exercise of a group of the Navy and Aerospace Forces of Russia, during which the crews of the frigates successfully used "Zircon" hypersonic missiles against a sea target.
The frigate "Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov" is a carrier of "Kalibr" and "Zircon" hypersonic missiles, its long voyage began on May 17. The main tasks of the voyage are to ensure a naval presence and demonstrate the flag of the Russian Navy in operationally important areas of the far oceanic zone.
The ship visited the port of Havana in Cuba, the port of La Guaira in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the port of Oran in the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria, the port of Bizerte in the Tunisian Republic, and also passed through the English Channel between France and Great Britain.
