New footage of the promising Russian 2S43 "Malva" self-propelled artillery gun (SPG) has appeared online. A 152-mm gun has been installed on the gun, externally resembling the 2A36 from the "Hyacinth" family, rather than the 2A65 of the "Msta" family, previously used on the "Malva."
The firing range of Krasnopol-D guided artillery projectiles is up to 50 km. It is known from open sources that the maximum aiming range of the "Msta" series gun is up to 43 km.
The chassis of the new "Malva" is the already well-known BAZ-6910-027 "Voshchina" with an 8×8 wheel arrangement manufactured by the Bryansk Automobile Plant. The presented self-propelled gun can be either a production vehicle or a prototype.
A truly unique combination of characteristics in a good sense. Even if it was necessary to reduce the mass of the explosive substance in the projectile for this. The combination of range with accuracy and the ability to illuminate the target from a drone fully compensates for this.
At the same time, the main advantage of the gun is the presence of a digital high-performance automated fire control system (AFCS). It ensures lightning-fast deployment of the complex without lengthy topographic referencing and loading into the fire control system the target coordinates obtained from external intelligence sources.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian military combined six AK-12s into a single system against UAVs.
