The development will optimize combustion processes

Innovative energy-saving technologies for coal-fired thermal power plants have been developed at the National Research University (NRU "MPEI"). This was reported by the press service of the university.

The development is based on the use of gas piston engines (GPE) to drive mills with three options for the efficient use of exhaust heat at power plants that operate simultaneously on coal and natural gas.

To rotate the mill rotor, scientists used a gas piston engine instead of a traditional electric motor. This allows the use of exhaust gases from the gas piston unit with a temperature of 400-600°C. They can be discharged into the boiler to participate in steam generation, sent to a heat exchanger to heat network water, or used for preliminary drying of raw coal.

The development is designed to optimize combustion processes, increase the fire safety of the dust preparation system, and more thoroughly dry coal before grinding.

Earlier www1.ru reported that the "Udarnaya" TPP produced an impressive 2.2 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity for the Krasnodar Territory.
