In the Russian automotive industry, it is sufficient to leave no more than two or three large factories. At the same time, they must be competitive, profitable and well localized. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov in an interview with the Expert magazine.
We should not think that we have no markets other than the Russian one. Yes, Western markets are closed to us. But there are fast-growing economies of the Global South. Countries in Africa, India, Iran, the Arab world. The faster they develop, the more of our products they will consume.
The Minister of Economic Development emphasized that the Russian market should not be limited exclusively to domestic technologies. In his opinion, it is necessary to maintain healthy competition. He also noted that after some suppliers left the market, a large number of Chinese goods appeared.
Earlier, AvtoVAZ, the largest manufacturer of passenger cars, presented its plans for 2025, talking about new developments and improvements to existing models. In the first half of 2025, mass production of the Lada Iskra model will begin. The world premiere of the B-Plus Cros crossover is also expected.
