Two Project 955A nuclear-powered submarines (Borei-A code) will join the Russian Navy by 2028. They are currently under construction, according to the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, Valery Gerasimov.
Two more Borei-A nuclear-powered submarines are under construction and will be included in the combat strength of the Navy by 2028.
The Borei-A project submarines are a double-hulled submarine: missile silos, a reactor, a crew, and turbines are located in a strong hull capable of withstanding high water pressure. Outside is a "light" hull that gives the submarine a streamlined shape.
The ship is armed with the D-30 missile system - launchers for Bulava intercontinental ballistic missiles, and is equipped with torpedo tubes.
