The Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation will carry out work to clean up the traffic police database, which incorrectly displays the number of photo and video recording cameras for traffic violations installed on Russian roads. Currently, the number of these exceeds 20 thousand.
According to information provided by NAS, the traffic police database contains about 50 thousand locations where cameras are installed to record traffic violations using photo and video shooting. However, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, at the end of the first quarter of 2024, only 29.8 thousand such complexes operate in Russia.
As a result of an analysis conducted by NAS, it was revealed that at least 20.4 thousand locations where photo and video recording complexes for traffic violations should be installed were mistakenly registered in the traffic police database. In these places, control using video recording complexes is not carried out.
As a result, a phenomenon appears on the roads that can be called the "kangaroo effect": drivers, seeing a camera on the navigator that is not actually there, begin to slow down and then accelerate sharply. This can lead to dangerous situations on the road, according to human rights activists.
In this regard, the Ministry of Internal Affairs asked us to provide information about the real location of the cameras and exclude data about non-existent complexes from the database.
Earlier www1.ru reported that in 2024, Russia set a record for the amount of the fine for traffic violations. It amounted to 400 thousand rubles. The reason is the movement of a vehicle whose weight exceeds the established norms, or its dimensions are larger than permissible by more than 50 centimeters.
At the same time, the average fine for traffic violations in the first seven months of 2024 amounted to 510 rubles. This is 4% more than in the same period last year.
