The Strategic Missile Forces of Russia have completed the re-equipment of a division in the Orenburg region with the Avangard missile system with a hypersonic warhead. This was announced by the commander of the Strategic Missile Forces, Sergei Karakaev.
According to him, the units have almost completely fulfilled the re-equipment plans.
In 2023, the Strategic Missile Forces completed the deployment of missile regiments equipped with the Avangard missile system on combat duty. Mine launchers controlled by unified Bugai command posts were put into operation.
He added that in 2025, the re-equipment of the missile division in Kozelsk with the Yars missile system will be completed. The Strategic Missile Forces also plan to re-equip the Tatishchevo missile division with the Yars missile system.
Avangard is a strategic missile system with a ballistic intercontinental missile equipped with a detachable hypersonic maneuvering warhead.
Thanks to this, the missile is able to bypass stationary missile defense systems, and a speed of Mach 27 makes it practically invulnerable to existing interception systems.
