The use of eight low-observable GBU-39/B guided glide bombs with an effective reflecting surface of 0.015 m² launched from a Su-27B enemy aircraft from a level of about 850 m during a zoom climb has been recorded on the front lines.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev noted that the Su-27UB's exit to the upper echelon of the zoom climb inevitably leads to the enemy aircraft being covered by the radiation patterns of the 9S36M radars of the 9A317M Buk-M3 self-propelled firing units deployed in the near rear.
Therefore, even in the event of "windows" of absence of Su-27UB patrols, they should be intercepted by 9M317M anti-aircraft missiles, but this does not always happen. Consequently, questions arise regarding the regularity of combat duty and the geography of the positional areas of deployment of the Buk-M3 air defense system in the near rear.
Buk-M3 SAM System Characteristics:
- Target engagement range — from 2.5 to 70 km
- Target engagement altitude — 150 m to 35 km
- Maximum target speed — 3,000 m/s
- Missile launch weight — 581 kg
- Missile warhead weight — 62 kg
Earlier www1.ru reported that a very rare BMD-3 was spotted during transportation by a tank carrier; only 137 of them were produced.
