Military expert Evgeny Damantsev has called on the Almaz-Antey holding to reprogram the source code of the 48Ya6-K1 Podlet-K1 radar complex due to the risk of the system falling into the hands of American specialists.
In his opinion, it is also necessary to update its amplitude-frequency spectrum of operation, since the enemy will try to reprogram their latest electronic warfare systems to counter these low-altitude detection radars.
Damantsev recalled that the 48Ya6-K1 Podlet-K1 radar complexes are used at the forefront in unified network-centric air defense systems with the S-400 SAM systems and Pantsir-S1 SPAAGM systems to detect low-altitude stealthy SCALP-EG cruise missiles.
48Ya6-K1 Podlet is a universal solid-state mobile three-coordinate radar station with a phased array circular scan antenna. It is used to detect airborne targets at low and extremely low altitudes.
In particular, Podlet is designed to provide target designation for the S-300 and S-400 SAM systems. The station can simultaneously detect up to 200 targets moving at speeds up to 4400 km/h. The radar's range is from 10 to 200 km, and up to 300 km in additional mode.
