В Санкт-Петербурге создали новую систему для шифрования данных

The development is based on the concept of "mathematical matryoshkas"

An innovative system for generating random numbers to protect data on low-power devices has been presented at the St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University "LETI". This was announced by the project manager, senior researcher at the Youth Research Institute of LETI, Ekaterina Kopets.

The development is based on the theory of chaos and the concept of "mathematical matryoshkas".

Although modern computers can perform complex algorithms for generating pseudo-random sequences for encryption without any particular problems, it was necessary to find a simpler algorithm for low-power embedded systems.
Ekaterina Kopets, project manager, senior researcher at the Youth Research Institute of LETI

The key element of the system is a fractal, which is a set of self-similar elements with different characteristics. A fractal function was derived based on fractals for use in programming.

We only took one of the possible variants of the fractal function, but there can be infinitely many of them. In essence, we are stepping onto terra incognita in the field of chaotic systems, and a huge field for further research opens up before us.
Artur Karimov, senior researcher at the Youth Research Institute of LETI

Modern random number generators often have cumbersome algorithms. In the last two decades, they have begun to use chaotic mappings, which allow obtaining pseudo-random numbers with the properties of true randomness. Algorithms of the "tent" type have a limited range of combinations and can "degenerate" into periodic sequences.

The development has demonstrated effectiveness in data encryption and verification of the characteristics of emitted signals, including biological signals, such as sperm whale clicks. This opens up new opportunities in the field of signal processing.

Earlier www1.ru reported that an algorithm for detecting destructive information was created at NSU.
