Photos of the latest BMW 7-Series in the G70 body with state license plates "a007mr97" have appeared on the Internet. According to Motor, these numbers were assigned to the domestic luxury sedan Aurus Senat 2022 model year just a few months ago.
The flagship sedan of the German brand with a blue flasher was captured in the center of Moscow, near the Hotel Ukraine. The numbers "a***mr97" belong to a series allocated for heads of federal ministries and deputy prime ministers, and the number "a007mr97" itself was recently on the Aurus Senat.
The new generation BMW 7-Series was not officially supplied to Russia, but the customer managed to import a car in a rich configuration with an M-package and anti-chrome. Although the exact modification is unknown, based on external characteristics, it is assumed that this is the BMW 760i xDrive version with an eight-cylinder engine with a capacity of 544 hp and a torque of 750 N·m. Earlier, in 2020, the flagship BMW M760Li (G12) was spotted with the "a007mr97" numbers, which indicates that the owner has experience in operating Bavarian sedans.
Both the BMW M760Li and the Aurus Senat were registered to the FKU "Support Center" — an institution subordinate to the Ministry of Economic Development, which is responsible for ensuring the operation of federal authorities in the government complex.
Since the appearance of Aurus in state garages, the replacement of domestic premium sedans with foreign cars has become rare. However, foreign cars continue to be used in limited quantities. Mercedes-Maybach S-Class in the Z223 body and BMW i7 electric car in the G70 body have been spotted among special services.
Western sanctions prohibit the supply of cars worth over 50 thousand euros and with an engine capacity of more than 1.9 liters to Russia and Belarus. The cost of the BMW 760i xDrive in the USA is about 112 thousand dollars, which makes its acquisition for Russia an interesting case of circumventing sanctions restrictions.
