The Aerospace Forces (VKS) of Russia and the Air Force of the People's Liberation Army of China (PLA) conducted a joint patrol in the Asia-Pacific region on strategic bombers and missile carriers. No violations were recorded, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported.
An air group consisting of Tu-95MS strategic missile carriers of the Russian Aerospace Forces and H-6K strategic bombers of the PLA Air Force carried out an air patrol over the western part of the Pacific Ocean, the waters of the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea.
The department emphasized that the aircraft of both countries, while performing the flight mission, acted strictly in accordance with the provisions of international law, and no violations of the airspace of other states were allowed.
In certain areas, the aircraft were escorted by fighters of foreign states. Fighter aviation cover was provided along the entire route of the joint patrol by MiG-31, Su-30SM aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces and Jian-16 aircraft of the Chinese Air Force.
The armament of the Tu-95MS is 6 X-55 missiles, in a drum installation in the fuselage. Another 10 missiles can be placed on external hardpoints.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia's strategic forces will be equipped with 95% modern weapons.
