Почему новое супероружие России назвали «Орешником»: четыре версии происхождения названия

References to the Old Testament and Ancient Rus'

The Russian military has received the latest Oreshnik hypersonic ballistic missile, which existing air and missile defense systems cannot intercept. However, many are wondering: why was the missile given this particular name? There are four theories about its origin.

First

Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the missileers themselves came up with the name. They may have been inspired by the text of the Old Testament, where the hazel is mentioned as a tree of divine wisdom, guiding a person on the right path.

Second

Hazel is a very flexible tree; in Russia, it was often used to make rods. Thus, the name of the missile may be associated with a means of retribution.

Third

The name is logical if you compare the missile to a hazel branch. The warhead carries at least six warheads that will fall in clusters of fiery wrath.

Fourth

Before the head of state's speech, no one knew about Oreshnik. Therefore, a number of foreign media outlets began to believe that Oreshnik is a modification of one of the existing missiles. Among the closest analogues were the RS-26 ballistic missiles and the announced Kedr system.

Oreshnik is a medium-range ballistic missile with a flight speed of more than 12 km/h per hour. It carries from three to six thermonuclear warheads with a capacity of 150 kilotons each. Putin has stated that the missile can be used non-nuclear, but it can also carry a nuclear warhead.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the latest Malva self-propelled gun has been taught to hit several targets simultaneously in a fire raid.
