Project documentation for the construction of the first facility at the construction site of the new power units of Smolensk NPP-2 (a planned facility in the south of the Smolensk region near the city of Desnogorsk) has been approved by Smolenskgosexpertiza. This was reported by Rosatom's press service.
This opens up opportunities for us to start creating the supporting infrastructure, which will include administrative, amenity and production buildings, a concrete mixing plant, warehousing, a large assembly shop and other facilities.
The construction of these facilities means a transition to pouring concrete into the foundation slab of the reactor building of power unit No. 1 of Smolensk NPP-2, Chebotarev explained.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, and commissioning in 2033. The design capacity of the NPP is 2510 MW.
