The heavy nuclear-powered missile cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" of the Russian Navy is a "hole in the water", so a benefit for the United States can be found in its modernization. This is stated in an article by the American magazine The National Interest (TNI).
Observer Peter Suciu noted that the "Admiral Nakhimov" on "paper" is a combat-ready ship that could pose a threat during hostilities, but if they were conducted in the 1980s.
But today it would be a huge target. Russia has boasted about the capabilities of its hypersonic weapons, but the US is also developing them, and NATO submarines could easily track and then sink the ship.
Suciu added that the modernization of the "Admiral Nakhimov" is beneficial to the American side, since every ruble spent on it is "one ruble less spent on more combat-ready ships".
The cruiser "Admiral Nakhimov" has been under repair since 1999. It is expected that the main result of the cruiser's modernization will be to strengthen its strike power. The ship will carry Kalibr-NK or Onyx cruise missiles, as well as Tsirkon hypersonic missiles.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian Armed Forces fighters modified the captured American Bradley infantry fighting vehicle.
