The Indian Air Force Command has decided to modernize the Su-30MKI fighter. Russian developers have joined the program. They are expected to completely update the aircraft's fly-by-wire control system (FBWCS, which ensures the transmission of control signals from the controls in the cockpit to the actuators of the aerodynamic surfaces). This is according to Bulgarian Military.
The work will be carried out by employees of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in collaboration with Russian specialists.
The Su-30MKI aircraft's fly-by-wire control system replaces the traditional mechanical and hydraulic linkages between the cockpit and the aerodynamic surface actuators. The pilot's commands are transmitted as electrical signals, which are interpreted by onboard computers.
The system is designed to provide precise and flexible control of the Su-30MKI, allowing the pilot to perform complex maneuvers.
Instability in this system can affect the safety and efficiency of aircraft control.
The Su-30MKI will receive advanced digital avionics, including radars and communication systems. The aircraft will also be equipped with a new electronic warfare suite.
