The Russian S-350E anti-aircraft missile system has become one of the key positions of Rosoboronexport's exposition at the AirShow China international air show in China. In its export version, it is capable of intercepting 16 aerodynamic targets, including enemy tactical aircraft, Storm Shadow cruise missiles, as well as 12 GMLRS rockets of the HIMARS system or ATACMS operational-tactical ballistic missiles.
The main technical advantages of the Vityaz continue to be the ability to intercept enemy missiles maneuvering with overloads of up to 25 units due to gas-dynamic "belts" of control and the ability to destroy targets by kinetic kill thanks to the active radar homing heads "Slanets."
Also, the Vityaz is capable of conducting combat operations in passive mode with the multifunctional radar 50N6A turned off.
No other known long-range SAM system in the world has the latter option to date. The range of the Vityaz in the export version can reach 120 km, the altitude of the targets hit is 35 km at target speeds of up to 2000 m/s. The maximum range for intercepting ballistic targets can reach 30 - 35 km, the altitude is 20 - 27 km.
In addition, the SAM system can be equipped with 9M100 short-range missiles, up to 15 km. Their use is more relevant in countering enemy kamikaze UAVs attacking directly the S-350E battery, or nearby protected objects.
