Камеры с красным сигналом для моментального уведомления водителей: новый законопроект в Госдуме

The initiative aims to reduce violations by instantly informing drivers of speeding

The head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, Yaroslav Nilov (LDPR), has submitted a bill proposing to inform drivers of speeding immediately with a red signal. According to the document, stationary and mobile traffic violation cameras will emit a red signal when triggered, so that the driver receives immediate notification of the violation.

Nilov noted that such a measure could psychologically affect drivers, making them feel like violators at the moment of the violation, rather than several days later when a fine notification arrives. In his opinion, this will contribute to more conscious behavior on the road and allow drivers to immediately correct their driving, avoiding further violations.

Currently, drivers usually receive a speeding ticket notification only after 18 days. In some cases, the period may be extended due to delays in processing and sending materials. Nilov emphasized that modern means allow checking and paying fines with a 50 percent discount through websites and mobile applications within 20 days after the decision is made.

If adopted, the law should come into force on January 1, 2025.
