Russian UAVs scared Romanians: two F-16s were scrambled to guard the border

The alert scramble of fighters cost more than 50 thousand US dollars

Russian drones over the Black Sea, which were heading to the line of combat contact, frightened the Ministry of National Defense of Romania. On the evening of November 3, an alert was declared in one of the Romanian regions because of them.

The National Military Command Center (command center) at 23:34 [22:34 Moscow time] notified the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations about the introduction of an air raid alert in the northern part of Tulcea County. Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force, which are part of the combat air police service, took off from the 86th Borcea Air Base to monitor the air situation. The air raid alert ended around 00:45, and the F-16s returned to their home airfield.

However, such an alert scramble is not a cheap pleasure. CNN, citing Mark Cancian, a senior advisor at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), recently announced how much one hour of flight of one F-16 fighter costs. This is 27 thousand US dollars plus 16 hours of maintenance.
