MCD-5 was intended to relieve sections of the Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya and Zamoskvoretskaya lines and create an opportunity for residents of twenty Moscow districts to transfer more quickly to the metro, MCC, and other diameters. However, the project is now frozen: the capital's publication Msk1.ru has published the relevant orders from the Moscow Committee for Architecture and Urban Planning.
Thus, indefinitely, "until a decision is made in due order to resume," the following are suspended:
- design of the underground section of MCD-5 and renovation of the Paveletsky and Yaroslavsky directions platforms in Moscow;
- preparation of the tunnel from Derbenevskaya station to Malenkovskaya station;
- decisions on the preparation of a project for the planning of the territory and section from the Moscow-3 platform to Losinoostrovskaya of the Yaroslavsky direction;
- preparation of projects for Nagatinskaya, Chertanovo, and Biryulyovo-Tovarnaya stations of the Paveletsky direction.
It is not yet known what awaits the Biryulyovo-Passazhirskaya and Los stations in the context of MCD-5.
