Яндекс предоставит велосипеды для курьеров

Special bicycle centers for rental and maintenance have appeared in Moscow

Yandex continues to improve its Eda and Lavka delivery services. The new solution is to provide couriers with the opportunity to use electric bicycles of their own design. This was reported by the company's press service.

For convenience, a network of bicycle centers will be opened where delivery personnel can rent and service electric bicycles. Several are already operating in Moscow. By the end of the year, they will appear in 9 more cities in Russia.

The new version of the electric bicycle was developed taking into account the wishes of the couriers themselves. The model has a reinforced kickstand, and the shock absorbers have become stronger and softer. This allows the bicycle to be used in temperatures down to −30 degrees.

The polyurethane tube reduces the likelihood of punctures, and special hooks have appeared on the handlebars for convenient attachment of larger orders. The luggage rack has been increased, and the thermal box lock has become easier to use.

It has a luggage rack for a thermal bag, a USB port for charging a smartphone, and additional protection against splashes on clothing. It is equipped with a safe battery, and a special IoT module controls movement taking into account traffic rules, preventing speeding. Thanks to the module, the bicycle is controlled from the courier's application, where the courier always sees its location and charge.

In addition, special "pit stops" have appeared near Lavka's darkstores, where Yandex's partner couriers can repair, wash, and paint their bicycles. Special bicycle assistants operate in the capitals, who monitor compliance with traffic rules, advise delivery personnel, and provide necessary assistance in case of malfunctions.

Earlier, www1.ru reported on how they plan to regulate personal mobility devices in Russian cities.
