The "Autostat" agency has calculated that over the past ten years, cars in Russia have risen in price by 3.1 times. Now, on average, the cost of a new car is 3.1 million rubles, while in 2014, one million would have been enough.
In addition, since the beginning of the year in Russia, the average weighted price of cars has increased by 8.4% compared to last year. Experts believe that cars will continue to rise in price and their cost will increase by 7% by the end of the year.
Why is the cost of new cars rising?
Experts cite five main factors among the reasons for the price increase:
- The departure of European brands from the Russian Federation;
- increased logistics costs (it has become more expensive to import cars);
- increase in the recycling fee;
- ruble devaluation;
- inflation.
