Около 20 неопознанных объектов слетелись к сломанному спутнику связи Intelsat: Роскосмос следит за угрозой

The device failed on October 19

About two dozen unidentified space objects were found near the geostationary satellite Intelsat-33e, which had failed. According to Roscosmos, they "formed" in the plane of the device's orbit on October 19, 2024.

The closest spacecraft of the Russian group to the Intelsat-33e satellite's standing point in geostationary orbit are the Express-AT1, Yamal-402 and Express-AM6 telecommunication satellites, and the Elektro-L hydrometeorological satellite.

Russian specialists are collecting information about the coordinates in order to determine the orbital parameters of the discovered space objects. Unidentified objects will be taken into escort and will be taken into account when calculating possible collisions with satellites of the Russian orbital group.

Later, Roscosmos reported that it had recorded more than 80 fragments of the destroyed Intelsat-33e satellite.

Analysis of the trajectories of the resulting fragments shows that the destruction of the satellite was instantaneous and highly energetic.

The debris may become a potential threat to all operating spacecraft.

Intelsat 33e is a geostationary communications satellite owned by the Luxembourg-based company Intelsat. Its task is to provide telecommunications services in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, Asia and Australia.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Roscosmos could build a space infrastructure for Indonesia. The Southeast Asian state is striving to develop space infrastructure, including participation in the formation of a multi-satellite orbital group.
