The crew of one of the Russian T-90M tanks on the front line has never fired from closed firing positions. Its sector of responsibility involves direct or semi-direct fire using 3BK-29M HEAT rounds, or 3OF26 HE rounds, as well as 9M119M1 Invar-M ATGMs, or 9M119M-F1 multipurpose guided missiles with a tandem high-explosive fragmentation warhead.
The latter have a semi-automatic laser-beam control system that requires maintaining a direct line of sight between the target and the Sosna-U multi-channel gunner's sight.
Military expert Evgeny Damantsev explained that direct visibility of the target implies a sharp increase in the likelihood of the tank being hit by enemy ATGMs such as Stugna-P or TOW-2A.
Therefore, the vehicle is equipped with additional advanced anti-cumulative protection kits, including "soft" packages of anti-cumulative special armor.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russian soldiers have learned to effectively destroy heavy enemy Baba Yaga drones. They ram them with FPV drones.
