Will save everyone on the Northern Sea Route: Russian emergency rescue vessel "Kerch Strait" is being completed

To complete construction and testing, the vessel needs to travel 1200 km in 20 days by river tugs

The multifunctional emergency rescue vessel "Kerch Strait" has departed from the Amur Shipbuilding Plant of the USC to Vladivostok. It is being moved by river tugs and will travel 1200 km in 20 days. To ensure the vessel arrives safely, two pontoons manufactured at the ASZ have been welded to it, which will provide the necessary draft when passing through rapids.

The "Kerch Strait" is an MPSV06 project emergency rescue vessel with its own helicopter platform, capable of performing icebreaking operations in port and near-port areas, in freezing non-Arctic seas with ice thickness up to 1.5 meters. The vessel can operate even on the routes of the Northern Sea Route.

Vessel characteristics:

  • width — 19 meters;
  • power — 7 MW;
  • speed – 15 knots;
  • cargo hold capacity — 800 m3;
  • container capacity — 12 FEU;
  • deadweight at the load line draft — 1360 t;
  • max. continuous power of the main engine — not less than 2 x 3500 kW.

At the outfitting base in Vladivostok, the "Kerch Strait" will undergo final completion, painting and finishing, and the necessary tests.
