The company decided in August to give a second life to the Airbus A320 aircraft, which has been standing in a wheat field near Novosibirsk since its emergency landing in September 2023.
The company's press service notes that work has already begun and is actively underway.
The airline's engineering and technical staff has begun dismantling parts and components from the aircraft (AC) that landed in a wheat field on September 12 last year. The work will be carried out in stages in accordance with the dismantling technologies for each unit and element. Aircraft parts that are in airworthy condition have been tested. They will be re-checked and may be used for their intended purpose in the future. Aircraft elements that have been damaged will be repaired.
The airline plans to dismantle the aircraft by December of this year. It was previously stated that it would begin by the end of August and be completed by the spring of 2025, but the reason for the acceleration of work is not reported.
It is worth noting that this is actually the first case of official public "cannibalization" of an aircraft in Russia.
