ГК «Росатом» построит в Боливии завод по производству карбоната лития

Agreement Signed by Representatives of Uranium One Group and YLB

The management of Uranium One Group (part of the Rosatom State Corporation) and Bolivian Lithium Deposits (YLB, state-owned) have signed an agreement to build a lithium carbonate plant. The substance is used in pyrotechnics, the production of glass and plastics, electrical insulating porcelain, devitrified glasses, and also in ferrous metallurgy.

The enterprise will be built on the territory of the Uyuni lithium-bearing salar (hydromineral source), located at an altitude of 3650 m above sea level. It occupies an area of more than 10.5 thousand square kilometers.

Rosatom is expected to launch the industrial plant in 2025. Further, it is planned to expand production capacity to 14 thousand tons of lithium carbonate per year.

The plant will use Russian technology for direct sorptive lithium extraction. It is distinguished by its efficiency and environmental safety.
