In Russia, testing of a biometric system for verifying the identity of train passengers began in September. If desired, a person will be able to board a train using biometrics or present regular tickets. This was reported by the press service of the Center for Biometric Technologies.
In September, equipment testing begins "in the field" - at railway stations and stations.
Note that biometric verification will not replace a passport or ticket. If necessary, passengers may be asked to present the necessary documents. Testing of biometric access for access to trains will be completed in 2024.
It is worth recalling that, according to the authorities' plan, the biometric data that a person provides to the state is stored in encrypted form on the state digital platform Unified Biometric System. Users of the "Gosuslugi" portal can delete their registered biometric samples at any time if the need arises.
