Russian Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev announced at the Eastern Economic Forum that the price of a ticket on the high-speed railway (HSR) Moscow — St. Petersburg will be approximately 10 thousand rubles.

Savelyev noted that the investments in the project are very significant: construction will cost 1.5 trillion rubles, and taking into account related costs — 1.755 trillion rubles.

The HSR Moscow — St. Petersburg project, the construction of which started on March 14 at the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, will be the first line in the country specifically designed for traffic at speeds above 250 km/h. The highway will pass through six regions, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Novgorod, Tver and Moscow regions.

The project plans a significant increase in passenger traffic between Moscow and St. Petersburg — from 5 to 23 million people by 2030. The construction and design of the HSR is scheduled for 2024–2028, and commissioning is expected in the second quarter of 2028.
