A high-performance hardware and software complex will be created by two enterprises of the Roselectronica holding of the Rostec State Corporation: RT-Iridium and the Research Center for Electronic Computer Technology (NICEVT).
The creation and implementation of a new hardware and software complex based on solutions from NICEVT and RT-Iridium (part of RT-Project Technologies of Rostec) will allow the creation of a fully domestic system of secure computing and cloud services. The project plans to include elements of the development of RT-Iridium in the field of virtualization – the Iridium Software Complex (PC Iridium). In turn, NICEVT will provide computing equipment. [...] The agreement also provides for joint work on solving import substitution problems through the expansion of the line of domestic high-performance computing complexes.
It is assumed that after the launch of the domestic solution, Russians will be able to:
- work more effectively with big data from fundamental and applied scientific research;
- apply it in the design of digital twins of production processes of large industrial enterprises. Previously, foreign software and equipment were mainly used to solve such problems;
- more actively use high-performance computing power. Working with distributed computing and big data will become more efficient and of higher quality.
Also, as noted in RT-Iridium, the expansion of the line of domestic hardware and software complexes "will increase the overall level of security of IT services" in Russia and "create prerequisites for the emergence of new areas of innovative business".
