Cosmonauts on the ISS Conducted a Series of Unique Experiments

Thursday, August 29, was a busy day on the International Space Station, filled with experiments and technical tasks. Cosmonauts Oleg Kononenko, Nikolai Chub, and Alexander Grebenkin were involved in a range of studies.

They cultivated microalgae under microgravity conditions as part of the "Photobioreactor" program, studied changes in the heart's function during the "Cardiovector" experiment, and mapped the Earth's night atmosphere in the ultraviolet range using the "UV-Atmosphere" experiment.

Additionally, they investigated plasma-dust crystals and liquids within the framework of the "Plasma Crystal-4" experiment and conducted photography of the Earth to assess the ecological situation under the "Ekon-M" program.

The cosmonauts performed maintenance and testing of equipment. They replaced the sample cassette in the EML furnace, the body mass measuring device, and dust filter cassettes in the "Zvezda" service module. Testing of the "Kurs-Mkp-01" rendezvous system equipment of the "Zarya" functional cargo block and the "Kurs-P" of the "Zvezda" service module was also carried out. The removed equipment was placed in the "Progress MS-27" cargo ship, and the life support system underwent maintenance.
