Russian units are using the latest Pantsir-SM anti-aircraft missile and gun systems to protect critical infrastructure facilities, according to military analyst Yevgeny Damantsev.
According to him, this version of the complex is equipped with the latest 1RS-3 radar guidance system based on a reflective phased array antenna with a significantly increased target tracking power.
The detection range of targets with an effective reflecting surface of 0.03 m² (equivalent to a SCALP-EG multi-purpose cruise missile) is from 12 to 24 km, and with an RCS of 0.2 m² (low-altitude Neptune tactical missile) — up to 37 km.
The complex is also equipped with small-sized 19Ya6 anti-aircraft guided missiles, which reduce the intensity of ammunition depletion, Damantsev noted. In the maximum loading configuration, the new Pantsir-SM will be able to launch a salvo of 96 missiles, repelling attacks from several "swarms of drones."
A distinctive feature of the Pantsir-SM is a new multi-functional targeting station with a phased array antenna. Thanks to this, the system sees targets at a range of up to 75 km. Thus, the targeting range of the complex increases to 40 kilometers — twice as much compared to the Pantsir-S1.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a huge mother UAV-repeater for launching smaller drones was developed in Russia. Thanks to it, it is possible to increase the range of air strikes against the enemy.
