The Governor of the Kaluga Region, Vladislav Shapsha, said that 27,000 cars would be assembled at three automotive plants in the region by the end of the year. The politician reported on the state of affairs in the industry to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin during the forum "Development of Small Regions and Historical Settlements".
We will produce 27,000 cars by the end of the year, and next year 121,000 cars will be assembled at our facilities.
The politician explained that production had been restarted at the AMO plant in the region. It assembles Ural trucks. Previously, the industrial site belonged to Volvo.
Shapsha also mentioned that passenger cars are being assembled at the former Volkswagen plant, which is now owned by AGR, in cooperation with a Chinese partner. Finally, the company "Automotive Technologies" produces cars from 1800 parts.
Journalist Maxim Kadakov noted that all three enterprises would assemble equipment from China. The company "Automotive Technologies" assembles the Citroen C5 Aircross from car assembly kits brought from China.
According to the journalist, the AGR enterprise in Kaluga has established a screwdriver assembly of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max. Kadakov emphasizes that they will soon begin producing the restyled Tiggo 7 Pro Max, for which an OTTS has already been received. It cannot be ruled out that the assembly of the fourth version of the Tiggo Pro will also be established, and in the future, the Omoda C5 may start rolling off the assembly line. Finally, the management of the AMO plant plans to assemble Chinese trucks.
