"Russia will definitely have its own passenger planes" - Head of "Rostec" assessed the prospects for the development of the aviation industry

According to Sergey Chemezov, Russia is moving 1.5-2 times faster than its competitors in aircraft construction, developing new solutions and certifying them faster

As the head of "Rostec" stated in an interview with TASS news agency, the increased sanctions pressure on Russia helped the aviation industry to move forward, so that together with the sanctions "it was not Russia that lost the opportunity, but Western aircraft manufacturers that lost the Russian market," and "competitors left".

Just a few years ago, the domestic aircraft industry could only dream of this. In world practice, it takes 10–12 years to create a new aircraft. It takes up to 15 years to create an aircraft engine. We don’t have that much time - we are moving approximately 1.5–2 times faster. There are difficulties along the way. Aircraft construction is a complex industry where nothing is done with the snap of a finger. Nevertheless, Russia will definitely have its own passenger planes, you can be sure.
Sergey Chemezov, head of the Rostec State Corporation

According to him, the problems with replacing foreign components with domestic ones are quite solvable, and "there is only one way - to work". Chemezov outlined two options: either import substitution, or designing aircraft that will be completely new and Russian.

For example, the Superjet-100 project" (originally the aircraft was created in cooperation with Western manufacturers) is proceeding in two directions at once. On the one hand, we are creating a new version of the aircraft - with a modified fuselage and a purely Russian filling. On the other hand, we are doing everything to maintain the serviceability of the existing fleet of Superjets". In particular, we have mastered the maintenance of about 200 components, including modular repair of the SaM146 engine electronic control unit. We have created domestic analogues of spark plugs and filters. As a result, the regularity of SSJ-100 flights in our airlines remains at a high level — about 98%.

Earlier it became known that during an audit of the UAC plants where SJ-100, MC-21, Il-114 and Tu-214 are produced, consultants from Sberbank and Gazprom Neft came to the conclusion that there is no "economically justified demand" for the production of a thousand domestic aircraft by 2030.

According to Kommersant's sources in the aviation industry, following the audit, the Ministry of Transport, with the participation of UAC and airlines, proposed to develop a new target model of transportation with an optimal route network and types of aircraft. At the same time, it will be necessary to take into account "both more realistic indicators for transportation and economically justified orders for Russian aircraft, taking into account the realities that have changed over two years."
