Russian engineers have developed a semi-automatic remotely controlled module for aimed fire called "Chapai". The turret was created to counter enemy equipment, manpower and UAVs, said Igor Shelkovsky, a representative of Tekhmet-18.
The main idea is to fire from cover. The software we have developed allows firing in almost automatic mode, including without operator intervention.
According to him, using a tablet, a soldier at a distance can fire accurately with up to 4 turrets simultaneously.
"Chapai" was developed by specialists of the Era Foundation (PSB Group). The turret has already passed tests at training grounds, and negotiations are underway on the first deliveries to the Russian Armed Forces.
It can be adapted for 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm caliber machine guns and an automatic grenade launcher. The maximum load on the slewing gear is 25 kg, the battery life is up to 12 hours.
Features of the "Chapai" turret
The wired line ensures the complex is protected from interference, and also eliminates the possibility of the calculation positions being revealed by enemy radio reconnaissance equipment, including ground-based complexes such as Vera-NG, or UAV-mounted radio direction finders.
The combat module crew can be located in a dugout or other fortification unit, controlling "Chapai". This will protect soldiers from enemy return fire.
