At the Research Institute of Clinical and Experimental Lymphology - a branch of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics (IC&G) SB RAS in Novosibirsk, a prototype drug for the treatment of inflammatory diseases of internal organs was presented. This was reported in the press service of the university.
The new development is planned to be used for the treatment of eye inflammations, pancreatitis, chronic hepatitis and other liver diseases. The basis of the drug is testicular hyaluronidase.
This is a family of enzymes that break down hyaluronic acid (the main substrate of connective tissue) into monosaccharides.
Similar drugs are available in the form of solutions and suppositories for inhalation and intramuscular injection. The goal of the new development is to create a medicine in the form of tablets and capsules. This will allow patients to be treated independently.
Currently, the drug prototype is a light gray powder. In the future, it will take shape.
As a result of tests, scientists have confirmed the clinical effect of the new development. The drug is currently undergoing preclinical safety evaluation.
