Оценит состояние сосудов: в Нижнем Новгороде создали оптоакустический ангиограф

This is the first device of its kind developed in Russia

Scientists from the A.V. Gaponov-Grekhov Institute of Applied Physics (IAP RAS) and the Privolzhsky Research Medical University (PIMU) have developed the first optoacoustic angiograph in Russia, as reported by the PIMU press service.

The device allows for non-invasive assessment of the condition of peripheral vessels in patients after thromboses and prothrombotic disease.

The device testing showed good capabilities of optoacoustic angiography for determining the location and blood filling of vessels, as well as the shape and size of their cavity. This is important not only for assessing the effectiveness of treatment but also for preventing recurrent thrombosis and its complications.
Svetlana Nemirova, Associate Professor at the Privolzhsky Research Medical University and Senior Researcher at the A. V. Gaponov-Grekhov Institute of Applied Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences

The new optoacoustic angiograph provides a detailed image of vessel filling, unlike computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), optoacoustic angiography, and ultrasound (US).

Short pulses of a green laser create vibrations in tissues, which are captured by ultrasound antennas. This allows for obtaining detailed images of the internal structure.
Pavel Subochev, Researcher at the Department of Radiophysical Methods in Medicine, IAP RAS

It is worth noting that the Tissue Engineering Laboratory of the Kemerovo Research Institute for Complex Issues of Cardiovascular Diseases previously developed a medical device based on silk. It allowed for replacing vessels affected by atherosclerosis.
