«Размер имеет значение»: в Ростехе рассказали о преимуществе САУ «Малка» над немецкой установкой PzH 2000

Self-propelled gun hits enemy armored vehicles and strongholds

The 203 mm 2S7M "Malka" self-propelled gun manufactured by Uraltransmash (part of Rostec) has an advantage over the German PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer (from German Panzerhaubitze 2000) — its projectile is twice as heavy as the Western ammunition, Rostec press service said.

One of the artillery crew members shared his impressions of working on the 2S7M "Malka".

When I saw it... We were all stunned. You could say we fell in love with it. The 203rd caliber is no joke. We hit enemy armored vehicles, provide artillery support to our assault units. Over the past week, we have worked on approximately 10-12 targets per day.

The Rostec press service emphasized that the 2S7M "Malka" is designed to destroy important targets and enemy objects in the tactical depth of the defense behind the front line. Russian soldiers use modernized weapons in which they replaced:

  • gearbox
  • distribution mechanisms
  • power supply units
  • observation devices
  • internal communication equipment
  • radio station
The "Malka" SPH is a case where size really matters. The 203-mm shells of the Russian howitzer have such a powerful high-explosive effect that they deprive foreign howitzers of their combat qualities, even when they explode nearby.

In addition, the "Malka" projectile is twice as heavy as the ammunition for the German PzH 2000 gun. The firing range of the Russian self-propelled gun provides it with parity with Western models during counter-battery combat.
