A prototype device for rapid diagnosis of heart failure has been created at Saratov State Medical University (SSMU). This was reported by the university's press service.
The new device automates the six-minute walk test, which is used to diagnose heart failure. The patient walks continuously for six minutes, and doctors assess the indicators of his condition based on the collected data.
In order to reduce the time for deciphering the results of analyzes and, as a result, reduce the burden on medical personnel and reduce the time spent by patients in queues in polyclinics, SSMU scientists have created a multifunctional device capable of measuring heart rate, distance traveled in six minutes, as well as assessing the level of oxygen in the blood and making a cardiogram to the patient in real time.
With the help of the device, the patient will be able to pass the test independently, without the intervention of a specialist. Scientists are testing the created prototype to determine additional parameters. They will make the description of the clinical picture more complete.
In particular, it is planned to add such characteristics as "work" and "power", that is, the forces expended during the test by patients with different weights. Since a person's physique affects the amount of effort applied during movement, automatic weight accounting in the data processing process will make diagnostics more effective
After the device is refined, it is planned to be used in clinical practice.
Earlier www1.ru reported that a diagnostic complex based on artificial intelligence was created in Tyumen.
