Engineers at the Mikoyan Design Bureau (part of UAC) are developing the sixth-generation MiG-41 PAK DP (prospective long-range interception aviation complex) fighter, the first flight of which is scheduled for 2025. Russia is striving to be the first to present a new generation aircraft, according to The National Interest.
The MiG-41 is designed to replace the MiG-31 and will be equipped with an advanced stealth airframe, avionics, and variable cycle engines. It is assumed that the aircraft will reach speeds of over Mach 4 and will receive anti-missile lasers.
According to The National Interest, the MiG-41 will be equipped with a modernized Saturn AL-51 engine.
The Russians are undoubtedly competing with the Americans to create a sixth-generation fighter. The Americans, who were the first to create a fifth-generation fighter, are the favorites in this race.
Western analysts are skeptical about this project, considering it too ambitious and the implementation timeframe too short. Some believe that the MiG-41 will not enter mass production.
