Roskomnadzor has closed access to viewing materials on the fanfiction platform (amateur compositions based on favorite works) in Russia. Information about the blocking of "Ficbook" appeared on the department's universal service for checking restrictions on access to sites.
The reason for taking such measures was materials with LGBT propaganda (the "international LGBT movement" is recognized as extremist and banned in Russia). It is worth noting that Roskomnadzor appealed to the owners of the resource with a request to remove the prohibited information from public access.
The resource contains many LGBT sections, in connection with which Roskomnadzor has repeatedly sent notifications to the platform demanding their removal.
The appeal was ignored. In the Ficbook telegram channel, users assured that they are working on resolving the issue.
Today Roskomnadzor has restricted access to Ficbook in the Russian Federation. There was a misunderstanding and we are working to fix it. We will be able to provide more information in the near future, thank you for your support!
It is worth noting that the "Ficbook" platform is very popular. It gave the opportunity to post stories, poems and literary articles of their own composition. Mostly storylines were created based on favorite films and series. Most of the "Ficbook" audience is people from 16 to 25 years old.
The search on the Ficbook portal worked with filters. All materials marked 18+ were labeled. This made it possible to select or filter out works.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Firefox developers removed extensions to bypass blocking.
