Google announced a large-scale update to the Google Translate language service using artificial intelligence. This was reported by the company's press service.
Previously, the service allowed translations from 130 languages of the world. Now it has added another 110 languages, native to the peoples of various regions of Europe, Asia and Russia.
The Chuvash, Chukchi, Yakut, Ossetian, Udmurt, Chechen, Bashkir, Buryat, Abkhaz and Crimean Tatar languages have been added to the Google Translate database. In addition, the service has been supplemented with little-used dialects: Creole, Manx, Punjabi, Afar and Cantonese Chinese.
Artificial intelligence PaLM 2 (large language model) helped Google Translate learn new languages.
The corporation plans to replenish the Google Translate service database using AI. They want to expand it to the possibility of translation from 1000 languages.
