Military Expert Kornev: 9M723 Missiles Used Against Key Protected Targets on the Front Line

Russian military forces on the front line have struck an enemy S-300PS anti-aircraft missile battery's firing position with a high-precision 9M723-1 operational-tactical ballistic missile, equipped with a shrapnel warhead for air burst initiation. This was reported by the Telegram channel @RussianArms.

The dive angle of about 90%, which is outside the elevation sector of the 30N6 illumination and guidance radar, did not allow the S-300 SAM system to even detect and track the approaching 9M723-1.

According to open sources, the range of the 9M723-1 missile is about 500 km. It flies along a quasi-ballistic trajectory and maneuvers during flight, making it difficult for enemy missile defense systems to intercept. Detection by enemy radars is complicated by the reduction of the missile's effective radar cross-section (Stealth technology).

Military expert Dmitry Kornev added that 9M723 ballistic missiles are mainly used against the enemy's most important protected targets — headquarters, warehouses, air defense systems, and production facilities.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the Russian Armed Forces on the front line have increased the accuracy of FAB-3000 aerial bomb deployment. The circular error probable of the projectile has been reduced thanks to the optimization of the aerodynamic control surface controller.
