Rosatom's Global Leadership: Russia to Build Nuclear Power Plant in Uzbekistan

Rosatom State Corporation and the Atomic Energy Agency of Uzbekistan signed an agreement on the construction of a nuclear power plant

The Atomic Energy Agency of Uzbekistan (Uzatom) and the Russian State Corporation (Rosatom) have signed a protocol on the entry into force of a contract for the construction of a small nuclear power plant (NPP). The facility will be located in the Jizzakh region of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The signing ceremony took place at the site of the future nuclear power plant. It was attended by the head of Uzatom, Azim Akhmedkhadjaev, and the first deputy general director of Rosatom State Corporation, Andrey Petrov.

Rosatom State Corporation has confirmed its undeniable global leadership in nuclear energy by signing the first export contract in history for the construction of a small nuclear power plant.

According to him, Russia will begin construction of the nuclear power plant this summer. The project involves the construction of a 330 MW facility (6 reactors with a capacity of 55 MW each).

Rosatom State Corporation is the general contractor, and Uzbek companies will also be involved in the construction. The site for the nuclear power plant has already been surveyed, and experts have confirmed its suitability and safety.
