The Tallamho Design Bureau has developed the "Svyaz" (Product 31E) field network for the Russian military for secure data exchange. Soldiers will be able to exchange text messages and photo files in the combat zone.
The network consists of mobile microservers that receive information from users connected to the system via WiFi. The servers exchange data with each other via radio channel in encrypted form.
The maximum number of servers is unlimited, and up to 255 subscribers can connect to each of them simultaneously. The range between servers is up to 20 km, and the range from subscriber to server is up to 50 m. The weight of the microserver is 2 kg.
The need to develop such a network arose due to the difficulties faced by the military.
In combat conditions, cell towers often do not work, and the cellular network is jammed in order to complicate the task for the enemy.
The developers reminded of the danger of using mobile phones on the front line due to the possibility of tracking the subscriber's location. In addition, there is a threat of data interception when using messengers as a means of exchanging information.
Earlier, the first footage of Russian soldiers with the "Fumigator" portable electronic warfare (EW) systems appeared. The complex consists of two modules and is designed to be carried by two soldiers.
