Last fall, the US deployed the Typhon mobile medium-range missile system with Tomahawk cruise missiles on the Danish island of Bornholm (southwest Baltic Sea). Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, Admiral Vladimir Kasatonov, stated that the complex poses a threat to the ships of the Northern and Baltic Fleets.
Kasatonov pointed out that Tomahawk cruise missiles can strike at a distance of up to 2400 km.
With Finland and Sweden joining NATO, this threat to the Baltic and Northern Fleets will only increase.
The expert community shares the concerns of the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Navy, emphasizing that the United States withdrew from the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate-Range and Shorter-Range Missiles (INF Treaty), and the Scandinavian countries adhere to an unfriendly policy towards Russia.
