The Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) has started developing an engine for unmanned aerial vehicles. The model will help replace expensive imported analogues, the university's press service reported.
The device will reduce the production and operation costs of UAV engines by almost threefold due to an innovative fuel supply system.
The uniqueness of our project lies in the use of an original development — a smart fuel supply system, which, due to its design features, will reduce the production and operation costs of this type of engine by 30%, while maintaining fuel consumption and technical characteristics.
The new system supplies fuel and lubricant simultaneously. The engine can also be started on propane without mixing with oil.
The rotation speed of the new engine is up to 95,000 rpm. The model features small dimensions and a light weight of 4.5 kg.
The development can be used in all types of drones and operate at an altitude of 8,000 meters.
Currently, an experimental engine prototype is being developed. In the future, the project authors plan to establish mass production of the model.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that a high-speed "Svirel" was developed for Russian fixed-wing drones.
