UAVs will protect the EU's external border from Norway to Poland

European authorities are planning to create a "drone wall" to protect border areas from Russia and Belarus. It will stretch from Norway to Poland, according to Lithuanian Interior Minister Agne Bilotaite, following a meeting with her counterparts from the Baltic states, Poland, Finland, and Norway. This was reported by the press service of the Lithuanian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to Bilotaite, Russia and Belarus are allegedly trying to destabilize the security and public order of states in the region. The Minister proposed that the participants in the negotiations join forces to protect against such threats.

This is a completely new thing — a drone border from Norway to Poland, the purpose of which will be to protect our border with the help of drones and other technologies.

The Minister clarified that the "unmanned border" will be created with European Union funds. The Lithuanian Border Guard Service has already organized a special UAV unit to ensure border security. The agency is additionally purchasing drones and electronic warfare systems, Bilotaite concluded.
