The Ministry of Transport of Russia plans to expand the functionality of the state automated emergency response system ERA-GLONASS. They want to connect individual mobility devices (IMD, e.g., scooters), small aircraft, and UAVs to it. This was reported by the press service of the department.
According to the draft federal law, ERA-GLONASS is intended to be used for monitoring the movement of small vessels, drones, and scooters. The system will also be used for emergency notification of an accident involving small vessels equipped with satellite navigation equipment with an emergency call function.
In addition, ERA-GLONASS will provide the collection of telemetric information to analyze the driver's condition. It is expected that the system will help regulate the speed of movement of IMD.
Currently, ERA-GLONASS is used as a means of responding to traffic accidents. In the future, with its help, the authorities will be able to analyze navigation information in various sectors of the economy. The law may come into force in March 2025.
Earlier www1.ru reported that GLONASS will control the speed of electric scooters throughout Russia.
